Minister to hold National Conversation with parents

 

 

 

 

 

You are invited to participate in a live conversation about schooling with the Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth, Peter Garrett.

 

This conversation will take place online from 1:30pm, Monday 14 November 2011. Visit this link to watch or participate in the event.

 

The 40 minute conversation will touch on any number of the Government’s school reforms, including:

 

·        Trade Training Centres

·        The Australian Curriculum

·        The Digital Education Revolution

·        The Review of Funding for Schooling

·        Reward Payments for Great Teachers

·        Smarter Schools National Partnerships

·        Support for Students with Disability

There are limited places available for a live audience in the Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations Theatre, 50 Marcus Clarke Street, Canberra. You can register to be part of the live audience here. We are inviting attendees to submit questions prior to the event to our email address: conversationwithparents@deewr.gov.au to assist in managing the flow of the conversation.

 

A light lunch will be served at the conclusion of the event at which time you will have the chance to meet with other audience members and Departmental officials.

 

If you are unable to attend in person, you will have the opportunity to participate in this event by watching live on the internet, and, by submitting a question to the Minister via our online chat facility. The chat facility will be open from 1:00pm on Monday 14 November.

 

The website will also contain relevant background information on the Government’s education initiatives, as well as instructions for how to participate.

 

We will also have a twitter hash tag for use on the day #parentsforum. Instructions on how to use the hash tag can be found on the DEEWR website. You can also submit questions via the twitter hash tag prior to and during the event.

 

Given the time constraints, it is not possible for all questions to be asked during the event. However, questions that go unanswered on the day will be followed up.
