Looking to the future beyond school
Research shows that parents are the single biggest influence on kids’ post-school plans, so it is important that you are up to date with relevant information. According to Year13, half of all school leavers don’t know what they want to do as a career, but as parents, we know our kids best and can support them and encourage them on their journey of discovery.
So, to help you help them, we’ve put together some useful places to set off on your journey together.

The National Careers Institute has information about university, training and work options, as well as support available for students and trainees. There is a special advice service available for school leavers and a school leavers information kit which has also been translated into additional languages.
All Australians aged 15-24 are eligible for a free one-on-one, 45-minute career guidance session with a qualified career practitioner through the School Leavers Information Service. The information service is available via:
Your Career is jam-packed with information on career and training options, including explanations of different occupations.
